The Fischer-Tropsch reaction is the name given to the conversion of synthesis gas (a mixture of carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide and hydrogen) to hydrocarbons through the influence of elevated temperatures and normal or elevated pressures in the presence of a catalyst.
