To meet the need for formaldehyde plant capacities lower than those available from our standard FORMOX™ plant range, we have developed a plant optimised for an outstanding production cost and flexibility. Based on the standard FORMOX™ plant range, the innovative FC1 design secures many of the same characteristics: safety, reliability, and proven equipment design. Specific methanol consumption is equally low, and the plant uses the same superior catalysts as all FORMOX™ plants.
The FC1 plant is value-engineered to achieve the shortest practical project cycle, from being pre-designed, through optimum equipment lead times, and reflecting, via reduced construction costs, in a lower overall investment. All FC1 plants can be modified at the design stage to produce UFC, and can be designed with or without additional steam production.
The FORMOX™ process is the single most widely used formaldehyde process in the world today. Even though there are differences in the design and performance the same is true for FC1. Principal benefits of the FC1-plant:

experience in vessel design modified the design of some specific vessels (especially vaporizer and ECS unit).

Note: All FC1 plants can be fitted to produce UFC (Urea Formaldehyde Concentrate) directly in the absorber tower. UFC goes mainly into two applications – coating of urea prills, and UF resins.
